SOURCE – The new album is called Sanctuary – can you explain the meaning behind the title?

Peter Bjørneg (Vocals) – The lyrical themes are about human defects, mental escape, pushing the limits too far, loosing yourself and trying to get back. It’s about bearing your wounds and scars with pride… a testimony of your struggles. It’s about trying to find the right door that leads you onto the next level. And most important of all, to find your Sanctuary where you can heal your wounds after your battles.

SOURCE – Nowadays in every album the person responsible for the sound production is strongly mentioned especially when he is a known one. How important do you think is the producer to the sound of a band?

Peter Bjørneg (Vocals) – It goes many ways. The producer is an important player. It’s essential that the producer knows his equipment very well or else he can fuck everything up. But a good producer can do a lot for an unexperienced band. If you are a band who really know your own gear, know how to use it and have the right sound, the good producer will do as little as possible. And off course you need to find a producer who understands the band and its visions.

SOURCE – Have you or are there plans to shoot a video for that song or any others on the album?

Peter Bjørneg (Vocals) – We will make some kind of video for “The dead” and maybe one more. But at the moment, with the covid19-situation, we are not really sure how big a production it will be and when we can start.

SOURCE – Metal is sometimes known to be a very negative type of music. Does the band write better in that positive mindset?

Peter Bjørneg (Vocals) – Metal is not negative.. it is on the contrary very life-affirming and full of life-force and deals with all the aspects of life… both the negative and the positive. Try to create a atmospheric feeling in our music and we would like to take the listener on a journey both in, out and through all types of mindsets. We try to get all the facets of life into our universe, both negative and positive. There is no darkness without light and no light without darkness.

SOURCE – Can you describe the state of Metal today in Denmark? What different kinds of music do your citizens seem to enjoy most?

Peter Bjørneg (Vocals) – Metal in Denmark is good and it’s all kind of genres. Denmark has always had many good bands, but it seems like it’s only the mainstream bands that get succes internationally, like Volbeat, Pretty Maids etc. But there has always been interesting bands emerging in DK all the time. Taken into consideration, that we are a small country, we have always had a lot of good Danish Metal… mostly to ourselves.

Check out: MØL, Cabal, Nyredolk, ORM, Konvent, Solbrud, Hatesphere, Baest, Morild, Nyt liv, Konkhra, Horned Almighty, Xenoblight, Saturnus, Ligæder, Undergang.

SOURCE – If a metal fan comes to visit Hovedstaden – Copenhagen, what would they see and do?

Peter Bjørneg (Vocals) – But be sure to come in the summertime. Winter is dark and cold. If you want to hear metal music, it’s not just at a single place or club. There are a lot of metal concerts and arrangements at different venues all over town. You should check out Loppen and Den grå hal at Christiania. Vega, Stengade, Alice, Hotel Cecil, Amager bio, Beta, umpehuset and High Voltage (Rock-club).

SOURCE – Do you have anything planned for the coming months?

Peter Bjørneg (Vocals) – We want to keep on doing what we are doing. After a little break because of the covid19 pandemic, we are going back to rehearse, make new music, hopefully play our scheduled shows later this year and we definitely want to make more records and take our music to new higher level…
