SOURCE – Let’s talk about Audiotopsy – the new project that you’re part of. You guys have a new album Natural Causes coming out. What can you tell us about this process? How did this thing come together for you to the point where you’re ready to tour now?
Greg Tribbett (Guitars) – I was sitting around last July 2014 when I gave Matt a call to see how he was doing. We at this time discussed getting a Band together so I flew to Matts for a weekend and we wrote 7 Songs in 2 days. It came together really quick. I had mentioned Billy to Matt about singing and he was cool so I gave Billy a call and he was interested in singing for the band. Billy also happened to be playing with a bass player (Perry) at the time so I asked Billy if Perry would be interested and he said yes. So we flew to Orlando – Florida to Record the 7 songs we had wrote and it began from there. We recorded another 3 songs in January of 2015 and completed the recording process for the Album. We took May and June to Mix and Master the Record and now we are ready for an October 2nd release.
SOURCE – The initial response to the album has been almost universally positive. Does that change your expectations for when it is released?
Greg Tribbett (Guitars) – No not at all, we are very happy by the response to the songs. There were no expectations going into the process of recording. We just let it all creatively come out.
SOURCE – That sounds amazing. You’re lucky guys… How did you hook up with Napalm Records?
Greg Tribbett (Guitars) – Napalm Records was the first Label to come with an offer. We then had many offers come thru but Napalm was the more aggressive passionate Label that really wanted to work with the Band. They showed us that they were gonna be supportive and be a Great partner.
SOURCE – All of the different styles that influence you is obvious in your playing. It has been your whole career, but it is also on the new Audiotopsy album, where you’ve got a different groove or a different feel in all the different songs.
Greg Tribbett (Guitars) – I wanted AUDIOTOPSY to have an Original sound and not sound like anything else. This was my intention. Anything I do in Music I want to come from me as new and fresh.
SOURCE – Do you think that could be called modern metal? How would you define modern metal that is, of course, the title of our conference?
Greg Tribbett (Guitars) – I’ve been calling this sound, Progressive Hard Rock. I think Modern Metal is hard to define. What is Modern? What is Metal these days? Hmmm Gotta think about that don’t ya?
SOURCE – What are your thoughts about Spotify and the whole fact that you can stream? Now everybody is putting their record out there a week before streaming it online on like iTunes.
Greg Tribbett (Guitars) – I think it is a fast easy way to get Music which is exactly what the Consumers want. But, If you have a favorite Band or Bands, then you should support the Bands by Buying their Music. NO SUPPORT NO MORE BANDS.. It’s that simple.
SOURCE – How do you balance the busy schedule of a musician (playing live shows, recording albums) with your personal lives and the time devoted to your families?
Greg Tribbett (Guitars) – I love Touring and playing for the Fans. I keep my personal life outta the public eye really. I like my private life. But when it’s time to go, I’m ready!
SOURCE – Any chance of a Brazilian tour?
Greg Tribbett (Guitars) – We definitely wanna come to Brazil! We wanna play for the Great Fans there.
SOURCE – Is there anything else you have going on?
Greg Tribbett (Guitars) – Well, we are planning to shoot a couple of Videos soon and then get on the Road for the next 18 Months! Get your AUDIOTOPSY on Oct. 2nd!
