SOURCE – The album has been met with some favorable critical reception since it was released. Do you pay attention to what the critics have to say? Or could you care less?
Jimmy Lundqvist (Guitars) – Yepp. I´ve red some reviews and I must say I am a bit confused about some of them… reviewers that usually writes good seems to unlike it and others are really excited about this release. And so far fans are the most important things to make music for so I would answer care less on that one… There are to many “lazy reviewers” out there are who thinks their words is the real deal. Unfortunately for them its not…
I´ve noticed that fans are really more into this new one than other albums and maybe they like that little tweeked death metal that was created this time… while reviewers expect the usual stuff and don’t like when they can’t understand what we do and rather write crap instead of writing about what they hear… still they compare us to the 90’s Swedish bands… it’s flattering but we doesn’t sound as them at all… it’s only the distorted guitars that does it. Ssongstructures and riffing are far away from that you could hear in the 90’s and the words they usually write “we have heard it all before” is compleatly bullshit. That shows how idiotic they can be.
SOURCE – Where do you think Obliteration stands in terms of your past releases?
Jimmy Lundqvist (Guitars) – I hate to answer such questions. They all have their own personality and all that so its impossible to say any ranking. To me they’re all great. This questions should be done for a fan… they would give it a fair answer.
SOURCE – Have you filmed any videos for this new CD?
Jimmy Lundqvist (Guitars) – Nope but we are planning to do a video on one song… its only I who is intersted to do such things and having all things put together to do it its always something that spoils it.
SOURCE – In your opinion what has been the biggest contribution you personally have given to the music world?
Jimmy Lundqvist (Guitars) – Hopefully some pain in the neck of all headbanging.
SOURCE – Is it ever hard to keep up the energy and creativity after so many years?
Jimmy Lundqvist (Guitars) – I can say so much that its getting harder these days to be motivated and to create songs when you can find them illegal on the Internet the same day they’re released… that’s a huge wall to pass every release I can tell you. I cannot believe why those retarded mongos have to do such things… are they having a boring life or what’s the problem. Why don’t they make their own music and they might notice that it takes a lot of time and money to get there. Otherwise its fun as hell being out and play. I which it could be done more often.
SOURCE – You’ve been around in the metal world and the music business for a long time. Tell us what your vibe is on the metal scene today as opposed to earlier Entrails days.
Jimmy Lundqvist (Guitars) – Its changed a lot. The style death metal for an example have mutated to a genre filled with crap in my opinion… though I am glad our style have got its own name “old school”.
SOURCE – Tell us a little a bit about your interests outside of making music. Don’t you ever feel like taking a break from it all since you have so much going on at once that is purely music related ? What is it that you like to do not dealing with music?
Jimmy Lundqvist (Guitars) – I had a long break until I started to do death metal in 2008 again and released demos in 2009. Between 1996-2003 and that’s a long time being away from music… I had motorsports and rallydriving as my passion in that period, I sold out every music equipment to afford to drive… and when I quit that in 2004 I bought me a guitar just to have something to do. Motorsport and especially Rally is still interesting but have become so damn expensive so I could never begin again without many sponsors. Of course football is fun to watch. I usually follow our local team but they sucks nowadays… and having a break now is not what I had in mind.
SOURCE – Do you feel that your band and your music is a way of communication and relating with people?
Jimmy Lundqvist (Guitars) – I would never meet so much people without this. Usually fans wants to talk to us while we play shows etc and we don’t mind. We ain’t the band being at our room backstage all the time afraid to talk to others. We rather be in the crowd and meet people.
SOURCE – Living in Sweden, which has a very large metal scene, which bands out here do you think will make an impression in heavy metal?
Jimmy Lundqvist (Guitars) – I think many bands can do it if they want it… its the source of all kinds of styles of harder metal. Look for an example at some of the guys from Dismember who started a band called “the dagger” and only plays heavy metal sounding 1970-80. You only have to change some settings in the sound and write different songs and you should have it.
