SOURCE – You’ve been receiving a flood of positive comments and responses from your new single Angel Maker. What has it been like for you to see such a strong response and all of this feedback so far?
Elizabeth Andrews (Vocals) – Yes, thank you! It’s so amazing to read all the praise and that our growth shows outwards as well. Angel Maker is different in style and we have gone really far with it in the studio, so hearing that it’s the best song we have released so far is an honor.
SOURCE – Something I love about the new single is that there are some really great clean singing. When you began writing and working on this single, did you go in the mindset of let’s add more of this this time around and see what happens?
Elizabeth Andrews (Vocals) – Thank you! It wasn’t planned at all. Elizabeth was experimenting with having clean singing on the chorus because it fit so well, but instead of having the chorus clean, we added a whole extra part to the song where the clean singing fit even better. Mio could see a guitar solo there as well and we put it all together piece by piece, step by step until the final result emerged, which we are all very proud of!
SOURCE – What can we expect from your next record? Will there be a shift in lyrical subjects or any new sound experimentation?
Elizabeth Andrews (Vocals) – You can expect it to be dark, evil and brutal. This time the lyrical theme is female serial killers, so the subject itself is harsh, as is the music. We continue as always to experiment, expand and follow our inspirations – this album will definitely be something different.
It actually started with some riffs we had in mind that were more brutal than usual and the whole idea about making a really hard album grew from there. We look forward to hearing the reaction to the rest of the album which we are planning to release later in 2022.
SOURCE – What’s the status regarding the pandemic in Sweden at the moment, are you allowed to visit clubs and restaurants now or are there restrictions?
Elizabeth Andrews (Vocals) – All restrictions have been lifted and live events are gaining traction again. We had our first concert of the year in our homebase Stockholm, which went really well and we were all very excited to be on stage again! Extra nerves were in play because of the long pause and knowing so many of the people in the crowd. It was even live streamed, the link can be found on our Facebook.
SOURCE – Do you think that streaming live shows that were popular during the pandemic will continue on some level going forward? They seem like a good way to reach places you’re not able to tour.
Elizabeth Andrews (Vocals) – We hope so! As you say, it’s a great way to do something for the countries we haven’t been able to tour in yet. Virtually, we were part of an online festival in Chile last year, where we submitted our live recording.
SOURCE – In addition to your musical interests, what else do you occupy your time with?
Elizabeth Andrews (Vocals) – I have my side project in modeling and dancing called Zenith Black where I use photography and video for various dark expressions. Apart from that I sing, play some bass, guitar and piano for fun. I also love dancing, working out, gaming and going into nature.
Madeleine Gullberg Husberg (Bass) – I went back to school last year, studying programming. Besides that I love photography, the outdoors, hiking, going to the gym, playing computer games and the most recent hobby I picked up is gardening, growing my own vegetables on the balcony.
Mac Dalmanner (Drumms) – I love animals, nature, science and alot of nerdy stuff. I have a bunch of spiders and snakes. Other than that I love making food, doing music and video production, gaming, exercise, hiking, movies, the list goes on. I also have another band called Netherbird which is more blackish and atmospheric.
Mio Jäger (Guitars) – I like going to the gym, spending my time with my son and Mac watching movies, cooking and eating good food. I also enjoy going to concerts and seeing other metal bands. If I had more time I would like to practice martial arts again and drive my motorbike.
Milla Olsson (Guitars) – Besides music I spend a lot of time with my horses. Horses have been a part of my life since I was like 4 years old. I enjoy nature and to go visit ancient remains thats located all around my home Island Gotland. I also play in a black metal band called Nårdegaist with lyrics in the old gutnish language.
Isabelle Romhagen (Guitars) – I work as a programmer and like to expand my skills in that area as well in my spare time. Apart from that, I’m a bookworm and like to read a lot. Right now I’m in the middle of the Stormlight Archive series by Brandon Sanderson.
SOURCE – Your home state of Sweden seems to be a really great place for doom, metal, post-rock, and other genres combining heavy textures and ambient soundscapes. Are there any other local bands or artists that you’re particularly close to that doesn’t get as much recommendation there?
Elizabeth Andrews (Vocals) – Indeed it is! There is a rich underground metal scene with many bands per square meter so to say. We definitely want to mention our close friends in Netherbird (Symphonic/Melodic Black Metal), extremely skilled musicians and great people. – Definitely check them out!
SOURCE – We’ll we are definitely looking forward to hearing what comes out of this quarantine from you. Thanks again for speaking with me. Is there anything else you’d like to say to the fans?
Elizabeth Andrews (Vocals) – Thank you for having us, we are also excited about the years to come now that we all are slowly emerging from the pandemic. We have a lot of exciting things in store and can’t wait to get back on the road and play live again! We look forward to sharing our upcoming album with you all and are working hard towards this end goal as well as making extra content online.
