SOURCE – How has the band’s sound evolved from Burn In Beautiful Fire to De:Evolution?

Truls Haugen (Drums) – I think we have matured alot the last couple of records and this time we’ve taken it to the next level of maturity. I believe we finally found our ‘sound’ on Burn in Beautiful Fire and with De:Evolution we have taken more of the same and made it even more melodic and “to the point”.

SOURCE – What inspired your cover art?

Truls Haugen (Drums) – Ryan Clark did an amazing job on this one. I guess it is inspired and represents the title and the thin red line within the lyrical content of the songs. It is about mankind and that we have reached the borderline of evolution. It is stagnant and starting to go backwards in a way. Therefore the baby locked in the box slash aquarium thingy.

SOURCE – What will be your most vivid memory of recording this album?

Truls Haugen (Drums) – It was fun for me recording this album because I got to do more than I have ever done during a recording process. First and foremost tracking drums but also recording alot of keyboards and samples. That was alot of fun. And also getting the chance to do some singing as well. I’ve got some screams in there that never thought I was capable of doing.

SOURCE – Are you the type of band that comes to the studio with a lot of extra material to choose from, or do you generally only write the number of songs you’ll need for an album?

Truls Haugen (Drums) – We seldom record any extra material than we’re supposed to but we always have tons of songs written beforehand. This time we used about six months composing in our rehearsal space. We also have a “riffpool” were we drop files so we can share riffs and ideas online. I think we ended up with around 18 songs that was brutally cut down to 14.

SOURCE – You worked with Daniel Bergstrand. What about his style works well with the band?

Truls Haugen (Drums) – We have worked with him on our last 3 records and his methods works very well with us. He is also very easy to work with and has become a close friend of the band. I think he enhances our music with his expertise and knowledge.

SOURCE – The album is generating a lot of buzz. After hearing that and a lot of early positive reviews, how does that affect your expectation for the album?

Truls Haugen (Drums) – Wow, I didn’t know that! It seems that the reviewers are early birds because I haven’t read a single review yet. hehe. If what you say is true I’m really excited about the outcome.

SOURCE – How was the video shoot for Meandering and what is the plot of the clip?

Truls Haugen (Drums) – We spent a day filming at our rehearsal space with our good friend Carl Christian Lein Størmer, who directed the video. Actually he did everything! Shooting, editing , lighting etc. The idea was pretty basic with only the band performing the song but to Carl’s unique visual style. It turned out really cool!

SOURCE – What’s currently in heavy rotation in your MP3 player?

Truls Haugen (Drums) – I rarely listen to new music so the newest thing I have been listening to is our new album…hehe. Latey I have listened alot to Rammstein. Mostly because my two year old son wants to listen to it…

SOURCE – What do you enjoy doing in your spare time away from music?

Truls Haugen (Drums) – I enjoy spending time with my family. I’m also a big movie, series and game nerd so I use alot of time in front of the TV or my computer.

SOURCE – Anything else you’d like to mention or promote?

Truls Haugen (Drums) – Be sure to check out our new album De:Evolution (available May 23rd) and hassle your local concert promotor to get us to your town!
