SOURCE – What’s it been like seeing the positive reaction to Call Down The Sun online and through social media?

Rikke Emilie List (Vocals) – It’s been absolutely amazing! We got amazing response on our first album Puritan Masochism, so we were curious if it would be just as good the second time around. It really exceeded our expectations.

SOURCE – What does the title Call Down The Sun mean to you and where did that come from?

Rikke Emilie List (Vocals) – It was actually the name of the song In the Soot to begin with, but we all liked it more as a title to the album. Call Down the Sun means to call the wrath upon something. Which fits the theme of the album pretty well.

SOURCE – What type of challenges did the band encounter in putting together your second full length album?

Rikke Emilie List (Vocals) – The covid pandemic had a big role in writing the album. Our rehearsal space was shut down in 6 months, which was a big setback for us. But luckily we managed anyway!

SOURCE – Are there any overarching experiences or mindsets that permeated the writing of the album?

Rikke Emilie List (Vocals) – I think we overall are more confident compared to the last album. We’ve a gotten better at our own instruments and better at experimenting and trying out different things we normally wouldn’t.

SOURCE – Was there a conscious choice in putting Pipe Dreams and Grains as the lead singles to showcase the evolute in style?

Rikke Emilie List (Vocals) – I think we wanted to display something different with all three singles. Grains was always in the plans to be a single, because we thought it would be cool since it’s our first song with danish lyrics. Then we wanted something that was a little more groovy and ended up choosing Pipe Dreams as the second single.

SOURCE – Going through track by track, which ones are your personal stand-outs?

Rikke Emilie List (Vocals) – I think we all love Harena because it was very different to us to write, but we just knew we wanted to try our new stuff and experimenting with a solo. When it was finished it just were calling for violin, so we got in contact with Felix Havstad, who did an amazing job with the violin and cello.

SOURCE – Soundwise, are there any elements you felt a little more compared to previous album?

Rikke Emilie List (Vocals) – We knew we wanted to work with our producer Lasse Ballade again like the first album. He had a big role in finding our signature sound.

This time we were just more confident and dared to take chances. Upped the tempo a bit and kept it a little more groovy in our own universe.

SOURCE – Are there any other big plans for the band this year?

Rikke Emilie List (Vocals) – We’re excited to go on our first longer tour in a month. It’s the Napalm over Europe tour, where we will visit places we’ve never visited before and will be driving around in a night liner. First time for everything! Very exciting.
