SOURCE – Vindictive Miscreant is the new album. Where do you see the major differences in terms of this record compared to the previous Master discography?
Paul Speckmann (Vocals, Bass) – A bit of a silly question brother as every record is different from the other previous record. We put our heart and soul into every recording. I wrote all the songs on this record this time, previously I always encouraged Alex to write a few tracks, but he was too busy on holidays this year to contribute. Every recording is like a public record of my life and some of the events surrounding it. Maybe the production is a bit better this time as the Shark Recording studio always tries to continually improve it’s sounds! They are always purchasing newer equipment to improve the quality of recording there.
SOURCE – One thing that I always associate with Master is that there’s this raw and visceral side to it. As you have gotten older, where does the fuel to continue to add to that come from?
Paul Speckmann (Vocals, Bass) – Life is difficult for all human beings and instead of coming to physical blows with people, I choose to let the music do the talking for me. I put my aggression into the music as often as possible!
SOURCE – At over 30 years of existence at this point, are there any big goals that you’d still like to see the band achieve?
Paul Speckmann (Vocals, Bass) – It would be nice to be recognized by a wider audience, like some of the many copy-cats out there.
SOURCE – With more and more musicians creating than ever and more and more of these creations being released, what does this mean for you as an artist in terms of originality?
Paul Speckmann (Vocals, Bass) – There is nothing like the original, I have no fear of being compared with anyone else, Master and Deathstrike have been at it since 1983, so this speaks for itself.
SOURCE – After making so many albums, what would you say to bands who are trying to get started?
Paul Speckmann (Vocals, Bass) – Keep fighting the good fight and it will all work out of course!
SOURCE – Going back all those years, when you were recording all the classic albums like Master and On The Seventh Day God Created… Master were you actually aware that you made history?
Paul Speckmann (Vocals, Bass) – Of course not, this album was just another recording to me my friend. Of course it’s great that many people purchased this masterpiece and have enjoyed it all there years!
SOURCE – Is there anything over here in the Brazil for Master as well, like a full tour 2018?
