Nightmare

Nightmare

SOURCE – It has been almost 40 years since your debut album, Waiting for the Twilight (1984). How has the band evolved over the years?

Barbara Mogore (Vocals) – Thank you for having us! As you can imagine, 40 years of history means a lot of changes; line up, breaks, music industry etc… So the aim was to improve more and more and keep on enjoying.

SOURCE – Encrypted is the latest Nightmare album. How do you feel the songwriting and recording sessions went for this effort – and where do you see this record sitting in the discography of the group?

Barbara Mogore (Vocals) – The process was as usual, the guitarists send the instumentals, and then we create vocal lines, We think that this album has been the most ambitious, and eclectic we did, so now it is time to figure out how the audience will receive it.

SOURCE – I’d like to delve into some of your thoughts on a few of my favorite tracks for Saviours of the Damned, Encrypted and Incandescent – what can you tell us about the development and ideas behind these songs?

Barbara Mogore (Vocals) – For the anecdote, one day before recording Saviours of the Damned, we were about to abandon this song, as we weren’t totally satisfied with the vocal line and the general energy of the chorus, so we slept on it and changed it totally during the night, and it became (for me) one of the best song of the album. Art is tricky sometimes… All the songs talk about human’s and universe’s cycles of life « Encrypted’s» theme.

SOURCE – You are using more extreme vocals (e.g. Encrypted, Incandescent, The Blossom of my Hate) than in Aeternam. Will it be the Nightmare trend from now on?

Barbara Mogore (Vocals) – As we have a new singer, with a different range and different influences, it was important to us to share her interpretation and her inspirations too, adding extreme vocals widen the possibilities in the composition process, and give an other color and dimension to the new album.

SOURCE – You have put out a couple of singles this year, what can you tell us about the current era of Nightmare?

Barbara Mogore (Vocals) – We gonna release the new album on June 7th so we are in the promotion Era so promo days, its, events and a lot of beautiful Fests in France, Italy, Slovenia, and Tunisia. We are very excited about what is coming.

SOURCE – Music streaming has been a hot button topic as of late – both the financial viability of it, and how much benefit it may have for artists. Has music streaming benefited Nightmare at all, and what place do you see it having in the near and distant future?

Barbara Mogore (Vocals) – Streaming is slowly killing the middle/small bands, We are lucky that in france people are still really attached to CD/ vinyle etc… because unfortunately Streams don’t keep the band alive.

SOURCE – Your video for Saviours of the Damned has received great views through YouTube – what can you tell us surrounding the video shoot?

Barbara Mogore (Vocals) – Hahaha it was epic! We almost killed all of our bit players with those massive plastic bags, it was a looot of logistic and stress but we had great time and we will remember it for a very long time.

SOURCE – Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Barbara Mogore (Vocals) – Thank you for supporting live music and keep on coming to gigs, sharing on socials, buying the merch, You are keeping us alive. Thank you so much.
