SOURCE – What do you like the most about Damned in Endless Night?
Rich Parker (Drums) – We are just really happy with everything about the album, how it sounds, how it flows, how the songs when listened to in its entirety take you on a journey, how it looks on LP and how well it’s been received.
SOURCE – How’s the reaction been so far, given some of the changes within the sound of the band?
Rich Parker (Drums) – It’s been received very well and we have had some very complimentary reviews, the only real change with this record was that Martyn was doing vocals, but he pretty much joined the band after our last release so to us it’s just normal, just us. We wanted the album to sound like an evolutionary step and I think we achieved it
SOURCE – Lyrically, are you at all influenced by the current (and perilous) state of the world?
Rich Parker (Drums) – Politically no, but I think it would be hard not to be influenced by the state of the world in any form. We try to make it as escapism as possible but at the same time talking about real things like war, disease, space and even Warhammer.
SOURCE – What do you feel that Warcrab has to offer fans of the band?
Rich Parker (Drums) – We offer no-nonsense straight to the point heavyweight metal, our fans know that what you see is what you get, we feel we deliver an uncompromising delivery of pure sonic excess both live and on record, we like to make the audience feel like they’ve been run over by a large vehicle!
SOURCE – As your career progresses, are you more conscious of business matters and how they impact the band?
Rich Parker (Drums) – You can’t avoid the business side of things, your band is a business if you don’t think like that you will fail. But the music comes first without that and your performance you have no product, no business.
SOURCE – What’s your take on the U.K. underground metal scene at the moment? And, do you still see Warcrab as fitting in?
Rich Parker (Drums) – I think the underground scene is stronger than ever, so many great bands, so many indie labels getting the music out. As for fitting into the scene you either do or don’t, I guess we never compromise in order to fit into anything, we do what we do if that puts us into a “scene” then cool but I think we definitely fit in with the overall underground thing as we are an underground band but as for subgenre scenes then that’s up to the listener to decide.
SOURCE – What do you feel that Warcrab’s lasting impact to metal would be?
Rich Parker (Drums) – Uncompromising heaviness, huge sounds and tone to the songs and bludgeoned live performance!
SOURCE – Finally, how is 2020 shaping up?
Rich Parker (Drums) – Looking good, we have a great record to promote, great people working for and with us and the bookings are coming in, can’t ask for more than that.
